About the Role:
The goal of Pillar Nonprofit Network’s Social Enterprise and Social Finance Cluster is to build a prosperous and resilient social economy for London & surrounding counties.
We are seeking a Manager, Social Enterprise and Social Finance who will be responsible for the implementation of a social economy strategy serving London, Ontario and surrounding counties. Please note: This is a three (3) month contract with potential for extension. Job requirements include a valid Ontario driver’s license and an ability to travel throughout southwestern Ontario.
Are you a project manager? Can you meet deadlines, specified outcomes, and project timelines, on budget and on schedule? Are you comfortable with public speaking and building relationships in London and through Southwestern Ontario? Do you understand business and social entrepreneurship, and could you coach a client through their questions? Are you willing to learn some new things that look a little complicated at first, but are very cool when you get to know them.
Accountabilities
Reporting to the Director, the Manager will join Pillar Nonprofit Network and support the Social Enterprise and Social Finance cluster. The Manager will be responsible for the following:
Duties
- Maintain existing partnerships and establish new partnerships
- Manage a project team of four remote staff from our partners
- Communications for project team and other applicable stakeholders
- Be a champion for social enterprise and social finance, including impact investing, social procurement, impact measurement and other areas of expertise
- Act as liaison with government funder and complete scheduled reporting
- Convene and facilitate workshops throughout the region (training provided, prior knowledge an asset)
- Track expenditures related to project budget
- Support the writing of funding proposals as required
- Tracking of key performance indicators and impact metrics
- Complete milestones, including the development or coordination for a website using Squarespace and supporting a social enterprise accelerator in Windsor
- Support Pillar’s Impact Consulting as a social enterprise and social finance consultant
Core Competencies
- Effective communicator - meaning you can communicate with the intent of maintaining project engagement while making sure milestones and outcomes are being met
- Organized, experienced project manager who can meet timelines and budget constraints
- Proficiency in G Suite (Google Apps) and Microsoft Office
- Comfortable facilitator and speaker
- Experience with Squarespace websites is an asset
- Experience or familiarity with Basecamp 3 is an asset
Other Duties as Assigned
- Support other cluster functions, including: impact management, marketing and research, coaching, programs, events and other products or services.
- Participate in office coverage duties, as needed
- Participate as required in any event, program or project sponsored by Pillar
- Promote other work related to Pillar’s mission, such as: membership services and Innovation Works co-tenant services
- Contribute to the Pillar team, including collaborative initiatives
- Attend professional development opportunities as appropriate
Skills & Strengths
- Three or more years as a business, nonprofit or government professional in a manager role
- Knowledge of social enterprise and social finance is an asset.
- Demonstrated networking and relationship building skills with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Strong data management aptitude, including client relationship management platforms
- Understanding of entrepreneurship ecosystems and capital markets
- Active in the community and a passionate community developer
- Action oriented and a proven record of delivering results
