Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer in the London/St. Thomas area is looking to add an experienced Manager of Finance and Administration to their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee the finance, human resources and IT functions.
  • Participate in development of short and long term strategic plans, yearly business planning
  • Champion and drive continuous Improvement Projects – related to IT, Human Resources and Accounting
  • Creating and maintaining employee incentive programs – including RSP programs
  • Oversee and assist with payroll functions – time and attendance systems, posting journals
  • Review and clearing of open receiving reports
  • Reconciliation of all bank accounts on a daily basis
  • Work with external accountants to ensure financial results follow generally accepted accounting principles and proper internal controls are in place
  • Oversee and assist with collection of accounts receivable – recommending credit status and updates as required
  • Effectively work with other departments to resolve invoicing and receiving issues
  • Processing of Employee expense reports and company credit cards as required
  • Process requests for insurance certificates, WSIB clearance certificates, etc. as required
  • Preparation of Month End Financial statements for all companies
  • Complete Month end reporting procedures – ie run inventory reports, update usage, open and close financial periods.
  • Work with external accountants to ensure financial results follow generally accepted accounting principles and proper internal controls are in place
  • Review of general ledgers for all companies
  • Manage accounting department staff as well as IT and administrative positions
  • Guide and Oversee Health and Safety functions for company as a whole including chairing the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Review customer complaints focusing on improving areas of concern , understanding that customer relationships and sensitivity are the highest priority
  • Oversee and and manage SRED initiative
  • Work in conjunction with Business Development to improve sales and profitability of the organization
  • Work with materials management and production areas for cost reduction initiatives
  • Effectively liaise with other members of divisional team and FPH Group and outside suppliers
  • Driven to ensure all key performance indicator targets are met
  • Work with Prophet 21 ERP software to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals
  • Responsible for customer relationships to optimize each and every customer contact, while maintaining professionalism with more difficult customers/buyers
  • Time management skills to serve support balancing many different demands at the same time.
  • Follow regulations and policies as outlined in company’s employee handbook
  • Follow requirements as required by Controlled Goods Registration and other sector registrations (ie ITAR, etc.)
  • In accordance with the health & safety policy, follow and exceed the legislative requirements outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act in order to provide a safe & healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

College or University Graduate – Accounting Designation required (CMA, CPA, preferred CGA or CA)

  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution operations
  • PC knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to learn ERP Software packages including P21 Software knowledge
  • Able to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude
