Job Title: Crew Leader

Reports to: Company Owner

Job Purpose:

Leaf Garden Design is an advancing landscape design & construction company operating in the Sarnia and surrounding areas.  Focused on clean, modern design, we work with clients who appreciate style and demand excellence.  Leaf Garden Design is seeking a professional crew leader with leadership capabilities and strong construction skills.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to assess and manage project sites, read blueprints and construction specifications and implement a landscape design

• Work closely with a project manager to: maintain efficient operations, meet deadlines and project budgets

• Collaborate with required subcontractors

• Supervise a construction crew of 1-3 employees

• Operates a variety of equipment including excavators, bobcats, tillers, sod cutters, line trimmers, chain saws, and drills

• Maintains assigned equipment and reports required repairs

• Complies with Leaf Garden Designs health and safety policies and procedures

• Track and document project information throughout duration of project

• Ensures trucks, equipment and tools remain clean and maintained

• Maintains professionalism at all times when representing Leaf Garden Design Inc. 

Knowledge and Experience

• A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience working as a crew leader in the landscape construction field

• Required construction knowledge and experience in the installation of paving stone, retaining walls, garden bed preparation, plantings, and other elements of the landscape construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of different plant varieties

• Skills: good oral and communication skills’ excellent problem solving; interpersonal; organizational; planning; and ability to make decisions confidently

• ‘G’ class Ontario drivers licence (Class A licence would be an assett)

• Ability to operate smart phones and tablets

• Basic computer skills

We offer ongoing training in all areas of the trade to ensure company safety and skill development.

Compensation: Crew leaders are compensated $18-$21 per hour depending on experience with opportunity for advancement

Work duties will primarily be carried out outdoors and regularly exposed to wet and\or humid conditions and hot and cold weather
