Armatec Survivability is looking for a self starting, responsible and experienced Engineering Designer to be part of our team in the development of new products and systems for use in the defense industry.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with customers and industry partners, you will develop, prototype, test and ensure production readiness of parts, assemblies and systems. Hands on experience in a prototyping environment is essential as all of our designers take part in the initial production of their designs. This type of environment demands a creative and experienced individual, where a challenge is the motivation to get the job done.

Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience or 5+ years of relevant experience designing state of the art survivability systems for military applications
- Experience and understanding of fundamental design calculations and techniques
- Proficient in blue print reading and creation in accordance with typical ASME Y14.100 and associated standards
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- 3D modeling experience (using Solid Works 2012 or similar)
- Project Management experience (team or individual)
- Knowledge of typical structural metals and associated welding practices
- Ability to develop work instructions and procedures
- Ability to develop weld fixtures and other manufacturing tools and molds
- Knowledge of surface treatments for adhesion or environmental protection
- Knowledge of typical test equipment (i.e. accelerometers, load cells, potentiometers, transducers, etc.) and analysis of test results
- Technical writing experience
- Proven ability to effectively trouble shoot and problem solve
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Rated Requirements
- Project experience based on the following survivability standards
- Stanag 4569 AEP 55 Volume 1 and 2
- ITOP 4-2-508
- Ballistic testing and armour design experience
- Experience with testing and evaluation of mine blast seating systems using drop tower or live fire, ATD’s and assessment of resulting injury criteria
- Knowledge of vehicle, seating and occupant responses to mine blast events
- Experience with Human Factors Engineering (HFE) design and verification methods (MIL-STD-1472 or similar)
- Knowledge of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (or similar FMVSS)
- Finite Element Analysis (using Solidworks Simulation, Ansys or Autodyn)
- Systems Engineering experience in accordance with EIA/ANSI 632 or similar
- Knowledge of reliability analysis and testing
- Knowledge of advanced Fiber Reinforced Plastics (Glass, Carbon, Aramid)
- General machining skills and sheet metal experience
- Understanding of quality procedures in accordance with ISO 9001
- Comply with the company Health & Safety rules and regulations in accordance with the Act.
