On behalf of our client in St. Thomas, we are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Accountant on a full time, contract basis. This contract position is estimated to be approximately 16 months in length.
 
Duties (may include and not limited to)

• Apply accounting principles to prepare various statements, reports and reconciliations
• Prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations and perform account analysis
• Audit various reports to ensure financial integrity is maintained
• Assist with and prepare year-end tax working papers
• Inventory reconciliations
• Maintain proper documentation and back up for audit purposes
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual statistics Canada reports
• Perform other duties as requested or directed

 
Qualifications:

• Accounting designation or actively working towards designation with at least 4 years of working in a mid-sized manufacturing company
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, internal audit and budgeting principles including Canadian and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Data mining experience using Cognos Reporting tool (or similar Business Intelligence Software) required
• JDE Edwards experience (or similar ERP system) required
• Proficient with the use of an automated financial and accounting report systems
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily MS Excel
• Proven accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
• Strong problem identification and problem solution skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

 
Compensation: Dependent upon experience
 
Hours: Monday to Friday, daytime hours
