| Job Description: | This position will be based in Chatham, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be accountable for the daily and monthly coordination and monitoring of the accounting and reporting functions for the Company ensuring accuracy and timeliness of the accounting information. This position is required to ensure that financial information and procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as Company policies and procedures. The position will have direct reports, and will be responsible for managing a team. Responsibilities: Oversee the daily and monthly close process and provide supervision and direction to the accounting staff Preparation of month end corporate and regulatory reporting packages and reconciliations Monitor and report on all contracts through a weekly/monthly tracking report. This will include regular contract maintenance and price monitoring. Collect and review data from various reporting systems and identify and investigate variances Audit branch activity Calculate and prepare monthly accruals Prepare journal entries and reconciliations Update and maintain financial journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, budget system, expenses, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs Compile data and prepare a variety of reports Reconcile records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors - verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies |
| Experience: | University degree in Business or Accounting and professional accounting designation (CPA,CA; CPA;CMA; CPA,CGA) At least 5-7 years’ experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. This position requires a high level of experience supervising people. Experience in the grain, agriculture, or farm/crop input sector would be an asset. |
