ConnexOntario Health Information Services is a not-for-profit organization that works with various sectors of the Ontario health care system in the collection and provision of information and in the creation of innovative data solutions. We currently have a relief/casual position available for an Information and Referral Specialist. 
 
Reporting to the Supervisor, Information and Referral Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
 

• Providing information and referral, crisis support and brief intervention for those contacting the Drug and Alcohol Helpline, the Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline and the Mental Health Helpline.
• Providing prompt, accurate, empathetic verbal, email and webchat responses to requests for information about the availability of services from individuals experiencing problems related to substance abuse, problem gambling and mental health, their family members and friends, as well as health and social service professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to work varied hours including weekdays, evenings, holidays, weekends and overnight shifts
• University degree or college diploma in the health and/or social sciences field
• Experience in the mental health and/or addictions systems is preferred
• Proficient in verbal and written communication
• Ability to communicate effectively with dignity and respect
• Experience in telephone risk management, lethality assessment and crisis intervention would be an asset
• Information and Referral Specialist certification an asset
• Bilingual in English and French preferred
