Forest City Castings, www.forstcitycastings.com seeks an experienced Human Resources Specialist to report to the General Manager and be their first Human Resources professional. Forest City Castings Inc. is a privately owned company that supplies global manufacturers. FCC began in a 6,000 sq./ft. facility with 3 employees and through continuous hard work and dedication from all employees quickly grew to 110,000 sq./ft. manufacturing site with over 95 full time employees. Our wide range of zinc and aluminum casting products are shipped worldwide and supplied to all types of industries including electrical, mechanical hardware, medical, automotive, high tech communication, nautical and an endless array of other applications.

Here are some of your key responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Assess training needs and administer, monitor and document training programs including Forklift, Lockout, WHMIS, Bandsaw, First Aid, and H&S
- Day to day operation and administration of the HR function
- Compile and update employee records including benefits enrollment (hard and soft copies)
- Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc.)
- Deal with management and employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
- Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, attendance, leaves, clock-in and out, vacation, appointments and garnishees, etc.)
- Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees
- Provide key support and coaching to managers and supervisors on a wide range of issues and/or initiatives.
- Promote health and safety programs and oversee accident/incident investigation.
- Provide oversight for absentee management, WSIB, LTD claims and return to work programs.
- Acts as Management Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Ensure all necessary employment laws and regulations are followed
If you have:
- 5 plus years in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment, preferably non- unionized
- Minimum University Degree or Community College Diploma. CHRP Preferred.
- Certified Member Training on Health and Safety.
- A consultative style and approach with the proven ability to develop credible relationships with management and employees.
- Strong business acumen
- Knowledge and understanding of all appropriate legislation (i.e. ESA, OH&S, , Human Rights Act, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of compensation and benefits programs
- People oriented and results driven
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- Familiarity with ADP Payroll systems
- Strong in Health and Safety experience
- Background in Recruitment including utilizing Temporary agencies
- Experience in New Employee Orientation
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
