Job Description

United Way is looking for a community-minded individual that is progressive, innovative, dedicated and gets things done.

The Development Project Assistant provides administrative support and data management to the Development Team, the organization and key external partners. This role supports various fundraising functions including data capture and integrity, reports, mail merges and other general administrative tasks. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Development Assistant to provide administrative services 
  • Work closely with the Data Strategist to provide data services and support for Development team and key stakeholders
  • Produce and manage data reports, including data mining and pre-set reports, in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide high-level web-based research to inform briefing notes and meeting agendas
  • Manage mailing lists, updating and adjusting lists for electronic and hard copy correspondence according to criteria and feedback, maintain accurate contact information and contact rules
  • Support online giving and e-pledge processes, including data imports and clean up
  • Provide prompt customer service through phone, email and in-person  
  • Backup support for the Development Assistant and reception 
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the safe and effective operations of the organization
Qualifications
  • Minimum one year relevant professional experience required
  • High level of proficiency in database usage and manipulation; and Excel (specifically with pivot tables, CSV imports and exports, and report generation)
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive materials and issues with the utmost discretion
  • Highly organized and efficient with attention to detail. Able to multi-task and manage time efficiently 
  • Can handle heavy workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, tactful, diplomatic with sound judgement
  • Pro-active team player able to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, but can work independently when required
  • Solid verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising and non-profit sector an asset
  • Professional demeanour, communicates effectively with all levels of the organization and the public
  • Ability to flex work schedule to attend meetings and special events which occur before or after regular office hours
