Job Description
Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Services, the Senior Engineering Design and Construction Technologist is responsible for the preparation of detailed design drawings and production of pre-construction cost estimates for new and replacement infrastructure projects in the areas of storm and sanitary sewers, watermains, sidewalks and roads. The Senior Engineering Design and Construction Technologist will provide onsite inspection and oversight of County construction projects ensuring the projects are built in accordance with approved plans, specifications and contract provisions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares design drawings and pre-construction estimates for infrastructure projects including storm and sanitary sewers, watermain, sidewalks and roads, traffic signals, intersection controls.
- Prepares and provides technical support in the preparation of final tender documents.
- Provides onsite inspection and oversight of County construction projects to ensure they are built in accordance with plans, specifications, contract provisions and required safety legislation.
- Coordinates and administers consent processes for the location and installation of utilities.
- Provides engineering reviews, comments and inspections of the County’s servicing components for new subdivision, condominium, site plan developments and redevelopment proposals.
- Prepares and distributes notice and correspondence for all required project communications.
- Provides servicing cost estimate calculations in support of County construction projects.
- Liaises with all required approval agencies and members of the general public.
- Provides and undertakes occasional pre-engineering topographic surveys.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) professional designation.
- 3 years of experience in municipal engineering design and construction.
- Proficient with CAD applications, data management, watermain and sewer design analysis, road reconstruction design, engineering contract administration, sewer monitoring equipment and storm water management methodologies and software.
- Thorough knowledge of provincial and municipal policies and procedures, Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications and Drawings, the Ministry of Transportation Construction Manual and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
