Job Description

Purpose
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the incumbent will ensure that equipment necessary to deliver Meridian’s technology to the marketplace is manufactured and delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost effective manner. This role will include management responsibility for manufacturing output, facilities and H&S. The incumbent will be expected to fill in for the Engineering Manager as required.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing: Oversee areas of manufacturing team such as safety, planning, cost, efficiency, quality and customer service.  Monitor plant performance and optimizes use of plant resources.
  • Training: Provide training and guidance to direct reports to ensure correct knowledge transfer and best practice in manufacturing areas.
  • Supervising/People Development: Supervise staff including hiring, training and development, salary reviews and performance management.
  • Equipment: Manages all aspects of capital equipment implementation.
  • Documentation: Responsible for review and approval of specific documentation, procedures and site change control processes for equipment and process.
  • Customer Relations: Interact with customers and suppliers related to process inquiries, improvements and customer relations.
  • Production: Participate in troubleshooting production problems by seeking solutions that preserve design, fit, form and function. Work with manufacturing to carry out production objectives at lowest cost consistent with the organization’s quality requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous process improvements for launching products as well as existing process improvement on current products. Investigate latest die technologies for incorporation into the Die Casting process. Identify and implement actions to improve quality, reduce costs and improve overall Die casting efficiencies.
  • Goals: Monitor, tracking & improving all goals. (Including 6S, housekeeping, TRIs, Layered audits, Delivery, PMs, OEEs, Scrap, Continuous Improvement, Set up times, Clean up times, Recognition.) Support all other business plan and TPM activities and goals.
  • Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.
 
Skills/Experience
  • 5+ Years of direct die cast machine and foundry experience
  • Degree in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience, or other engineering diploma with 7+ years of process engineering
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience in modern manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
