Responsibilities
The Administrative Officer (Human Resources & Finance) will ensure the smooth and efficient coordination of financial and human resources operations within Animal Care & Veterinary Services, in consultation with the Manager, Administration & Finance. The role will provide guidance and support for a wide range of administrative, human resources, and financial functions and processes, and ensure they are carried out in compliance with all of Western's relevant administrative policies and procedures and relevant legislation. The role will coordinate and provide support for various human resources functions for staff in compliance with all collective and employee agreements, relevant legislation, and University policies and procedures, such as recruitment, performance management, leaves management, employee relations, etc. The role will also coordinate financial functions in adherence to relevant legislation, guidelines, and University policies and procedures, including supporting the preparation of financial reports and budgets, developing and analyzing revenue and expense models, and performing financial analysis.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a 4 year undergraduate degree in Business Management/Administration, Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, Management and Organizational Studies or related field, with courses taken in Finance/Accounting. They will have completed or are working towards a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. They have 3 years’ experience supporting human resources and financial functions in a large complex organization, including experience in a unionized environment. They have in-depth knowledge of financial budgeting principles and Human Resources principles and practices.
