The Agronomy Company of Canada operates the Agromart Group network in Ontario and the Maritimes, and is based in Thorndale, Ontario. Agronomy Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of La Coop Fédérée, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. Our Company supplies a full range of crop production inputs such as Crop Nutrients, Crop Protection Products and Seed, along with associated services to farmers across Eastern Canada.
We have an immediate opening for an Safety and Operations Specialist in Thorndale, ON just 30 minutes north of London. Reporting to Risk and Operations Manager, you are a highly-motivated individual who can provide support and will ensure the safe and effective operation of our business and our joint ventures partners. Incumbent has responsibility to coordinate the documentation and procedures of the Health & Safety programs as well as various types of Operations special projects as assigned. Successful candidate has a superior communication and coaching style.

Duties:
- Provide Health and Safety guidance to Managers and Employees at all Agromart affiliated business.
- Ensure all businesses are fulfilling obligations to current legislation and regulations.
- Provide training, training materials and advisory services on fire prevention, hazardous material storage and handling, emergency response planning and job task procedures.
- Provide accident and incident support by participating in investigations to assist in remediation of the situation.
- Administer a proactive Risk Management Program that includes annual risk management assessments of all locations and facilities and supports exchange of best practices across Agromart Group companies.
- Ensure that all environmental policies and procedures are in compliance with local legislation.
- Monitor and suggest improvements in Quality Control.
- Work with Operations Manager and corporate insurance providers to ensure appropriate coverage is established in all aspects of the business.
- Provide support in preparation and implementation of capital projects where applicable.
Qualifications: - Post-secondary education.Education in Engineering, Health & Safety, or Operations is considered an asset.
- Will have minimum 5 years related work experience.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) regulations, other applicable industry regulations and Environmental regulations .
- Will be able to perform physical tasks, demonstrate ability to solve problems, and make complex decisions.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
