Journeyman Millwright
Cargill is a large and reputable food company with operations around the world.  Cargill Value Added Protein operates a chicken processing plant in London, Ontario and a hatchery in Jarvis, Ontario.  The processing plant employs approximately 900 employees and processes 85,000 chickens each day.  The hatchery has approximately 70 employees and, on average, produces 150,000 chicks per day.  Cargill Value Added Protein operates ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Spruce Grove, Alberta employing approximately 130 employees.
 
We are currently accepting applications for a Journeyman Millwright in our Maintenance Department located at our London, Ontario location.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
As the Journeyman Millwright your primary job requirement is to act as a trouble shooter and to complete the maintenance, repair and replacement of parts or equipment in production and around the facility.  Work is completed out in the plant site or at a bench in the maintenance shop. 
 
You will also be required to:
  • Operate manlifts or forklifts 
  • Lift and carrying up to a heavy level (0 - 20 + kg) 
  • Climb ladders and work from heights
  • Work independently but may intermittently complete jobs with the production employees, contractors or other maintenance personnel
 
Qualifications:
 
Required:
  • Possession of Inter-provincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright trade certification
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Able to work midnight shift
  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively and lead within a team environment
  • Must be willing to work from heights, work outside in various weather conditions, inside the plant, in confined spaces, and in a potentially physically strenuous environment and around live animals.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety
  • Strong problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a high-performing team 
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis.
  • Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and Predictive Technologies 
  • Forklift operator license 
Preferred:
  • Food Industry experience
  • Automation control, boiler and steam systems training and experience will be considered an asset.
  • Welding certification and/or other trade experience 
  • Demonstrated computer skills including data entry and data retrieval
  • Ability to read blueprints and layout drawings
