Job Description

GKN Sinter Metals is a Tier 1 supplier of powdered metal components to Ford, DaimlerChrysler and General Motors. The facility, located in St. Thomas, employs approximately 150 people and manufactures hubs, races, planetary carriers, sensor rings, and pocket plates.
We currently have a vacancy for a CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. In this capacity, the incumbent will be responsible for the following: 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1.         Works closely with the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor to ensure shipments are met daily.
 
2.         Maintains system accuracy/integrity for each of our customers within their portals.
 
3.         Follows up on all external missed deliveries to the customer.
 
4.         Prepares daily requirements report to support the daily production walk.
 
5.         Ensures adherence to all TS:16949, ISO:18001 and ISO:14001 policies and procedures including government legal requirements.
 
 6.        Works closely with the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor on the creation and coordination of work orders to the production floor.
 
7.         Processes all shipping paperwork; sends ASN’s and confirms transmission
 
8.         Participates in the yearly inventory count.
 
9.         Provides daily shipping requirements and stock status to the Value Stream Manager each day.
 
10.       Acts as a back-up to the Shipping / Receiving Supervisor (supervisory duties excluded) on daily error corrections.
 
11.       Completes all receiving in LN (ERP system), files paperwork when complete, works through unresolved listing as required.
 
12.       Completes weekly Layered Process Audit.
 
13.       Zeros out Ford cum’s each January and all other customers as required.
 
14.       Performs all other duties as assigned  by supervision.
 
Other Key Internal Relationships:
 
  1. Works closely with Value Stream Manager and Supervisors
  2. Works closely with Shipping / Receiving Supervisor
  3. Works closely with our Subcontractors
 
 
Qualifications and Education required:
 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a customer service role
  • Hands on experience with Chrysler and Ford operating systems
  • Will have worked with an MRP planning system
  • Experience with an ERP system is a definite asset
  • Experience with cross border shipments essential
  • Exceptional organization, communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills in order to interact with customers and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task is key
  • The incumbent will possess relevant post-secondary education in the materials field or have a minimum of five year’s practical experience
  • Must be proficient with excel and word
  • Must have a hands-on understanding of inventory control
