Humana Community Services’, LOFT program, is currently seeking applicants to join our direct support team as a Relief Direct Care Worker. As a program designed to encourage and promote independence, we want our LOFT program participants to be confident in their development and future success. Successful applicants will be responsible for working with a diverse group of people, providing support and daily programming for our shared home environment. The successful applicant will provide support in life skill enhancement, while maintaining individualized support plans, recreational activities and being a positive role model. This is a 24/7 support site and includes evenings, weekends, overnights, and public holidays.

Qualifications:

• Completion of related post-secondary education (DSW, SSW, CYC, or equivalent) 
• Minimum two (2) years related experience preferred 
• Strong mentorship abilities 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries 
• Understanding of support requirements specific to individuals with mental health and intellectual disabilities 
• Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and behaviour management 
• Sound knowledge of problem-solving skills to develop creative, evolving plans for the participants 
• Physical ability to fulfil the demands of the position 
• Ability to make independent decision based on Policies & Procedures 
• Bilingualism is considered an asset

Requirements:

• Valid Ontario G Driver’s License 
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check 
• Current immunizations and physical health assessment 
• Current Standard First Aid & CPR level C 
• De-escalation and restraint certification; Crisis Management Training; SMG 

Position details: 

• Starting wage: $20.84/hr plus vacation time off
