DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
 
Mission Services of London (MSL), a Christian based, not-for-profit social service agency, is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources.  Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for all phases of Human Resources Activity including employee relations, recruiting, staff training and development, performance management, health and safety, compensation and benefits.  This unique career opportunity will allow someone to use their HR experience by providing leadership to all MSL branches in the implementation and management of human resources and employee relation strategies, policies and programs which enable the successful achievement of MSL’s strategic business plans.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess, provide counsel and recommend options to all levels of management and employees regarding resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Oversee policy and procedure management, including development and implementation.
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring of new employees in compliance with developed policies and procedures.
  • Conduct employee orientations for all new hires.
  • Maintain HR Metrics including turnover, absenteeism, and health & safety recordables.
  • Administer probationary and annual performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within organization.
  • Oversee and maintain Compensation Program ensuring internal and external equity of all positions within MSL.
  • Oversee the administration of company benefit programs including Health Benefits, Long Term Disability Claims, Pensions and Retirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all Health & Safety practices and initiatives.
  • Ensure a healthy, safe and accessible working environment is maintained via workplace inspections, Early Safe Return to Work plans, hazard identification, H&S Management Audits, employee training and empowerment.
  • Supervise Volunteer Relations Coordinator position.
     
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field (CHRP designation or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 8 years generalist background in human resources and management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current employment law / legislation.
  • Good organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to provide leadership and motivation for all team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy.
  • Must work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills utilizing a variety of Software Packages.
  • Aptitude for creating and facilitating training sessions, and other employee presentations.
  • Bilingual in French verbal and written a definite asset.
     
Position Details:
  • Permanent full-time position (40 hours/week)
  • Starting salary $64,000
