Community Employment Choices, is an Employment Ontario Agency providing Employment Services to residents of Middlesex County. Services include a range of resources, supports and service components to respond to the employment needs of individuals and the labour needs of employers, and to help individuals on a path to higher skill training and employment.
 
Job Description
 
The YJC facilitator position is a multi-faceted role involving facilitation of pre-employment workshops, and job matching/placement for youth with barriers to employment. The Facilitator role requires expertise in all aspects of employment services including intake and assessment, pre-employment preparation, and placement support for clients who need additional mentoring in order to maintain employment.
 
Primary Duties:
  • Ongoing development of group workshop materials as necessary to support participants’ (aged 15-29) needs, program  framework and organizational goals
  • Assist with individual or group intake and orientation
  • Facilitate program materials in a dynamic, engaging manner independently and with other CEC staff
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of service delivery and present solutions to enhance services on an ongoing basis
  • Integrate service across the organization through collaboration with CEC staff
  • Document client participation and assist with case management requirements
  • Provide participants with appropriate information, supports and referrals to meet their training and employment needs
  • Maintain positive professional relationships and communication links with colleagues, the public and other relevant community resources
  • Meet regularly with CEC staff to discuss client progress and ensure the highest quality of service is consistently maintained
  • Determine needs, employment barriers, motivation and current level of readiness for available workplace opportunities
  • Maintain regular contact with clients regarding job search progress, the development of leads and follow-up with clients and employers after interviews to determine next steps
 
Employer Services - In collaboration with the Job Developer:
  • Contact and meet employers to determine their current and future employment needs, and respond to employer inquiries regarding CEC services and participants
  • Connect with employers to discuss and explore potential employment opportunities, promote the services of CEC, and discuss participants’ skills and abilities
  • Prepare and maintain necessary documentation for file administration and case notes
  • Research appropriate employment opportunities for participants
 
General:
  • Participate in marketing and promotion to various stakeholders including networking sessions and special events
  • Work as part of the Agency team to ensure smooth delivery and coordination of services to clients
  • Network with community partners and contacts, maintain a high level of knowledge regarding current employment trends and opportunities
  • Comply with Agency policies and procedures
  • Research and update understanding of labour market information and community resources on an ongoing basis
  • Provide information and assistance to participants using the program resources
  • Provide staff backup support as required within team and across locations
  • Handle additional tasks as required by the Service Delivery Coordinator and Manager of Programs and Services
 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Services discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth facing employment transition
  • Sensitivity to, and understanding of, issues and barriers to employment faced by diverse socio-economic groups
  • Familiarity with Employment Ontario programs and guidelines
  • Proven group and facilitation skills with a continuous intake process
  • Problem solving skills and resourcefulness in meeting clients’ support needs
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, community resources in Middlesex County
  • Committed to collaborative team approach with a positive attitude towards change
  • Demonstrated ability to develop goals and service delivery plans with participants
  • Experience with Common Assessment Process an asset
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, organization and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation imperative
