ABOUT US:

Changing Ways is a registered charity that offers unique services in the community by providing alternatives for men wishing to end and take responsibility for their abusive behaviours against women & children, and to eliminate other forms of gender-based violence in intimate relationships.

One of our key intervention programs, is the the Caring Dads Program, which delivers specialized group counselling to fathers who are at risk of abusing, have abused their children or have physically/emotionally abused their children’s mother. This program aims to support healthy father/child interaction and create healthy strategies for men to interact with the mother of the child. www.caringdads.org

Changing Ways strongly values community advocacy and involvement, and we are dedicated to educating other professionals about how fathering intervention programs can make a difference to the safety of women & children. Changing Ways trains & supports other professionals, on a fee-for-service basis, to deliver the Caring Dads program in their community.
 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Business Development Specialist to oversee and organize events that will make an impact to the target audience of our Caring Dads Social Enterprise. You’ll ensure that our Caring Dads events (Facilitator trainings, Train-the-Trainer trainings and Conferences) are successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints. The Business Development Specialist we are looking for understands marketing and promotional techniques. We want to see enthusiastic candidates with fresh ideas and the organizational skills required to not leave anything about our events to chance.

  • Ability to deliver key messaging at promotional events

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Delivering events on time, within budget, that meet (and hopefully exceed) expectations, by:

  • Setting, communicating and maintaining project timelines and priorities.
  • Managing and implementing operational and administrative functions to ensure events are delivered efficiently

  • Developing contacts to secure appropriate and good-value venue hire, and liaising with external suppliers including venues, caterers, speakers etc.

  • Organising appropriate sponsorship and co-badging of events

  • Developing promotional materials and maintaining and updating website content

  • Promoting events through relationships with key stakeholders, cold calling, social media and other appropriate marketing methods

  • Actively identifying new marketing and promotion opportunities while also communicating, maintaining and developing stakeholder relationships

  • Ensuring excellent client services and quality delivery
  • Analyzing event performance and preparing metrics


2) Promoting and expanding the Caring Dads program domestically and internationally, including:

  • Training events
  • Program license fees

  • Trainer-the-Trainer events

  • Trainer-the-Trainer license fees

          
3) Managing all aspects of production, receipt and distribution of program and marketing materials.

 


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in a marketing, communications, public relations, finance, business management, or equivalent fields will be considered.

  • Candidates with equivalent professional experience will also be considered

  • It would be beneficial to have taken courses or hold certificates in non-profit management, event management, meeting and event planning, or event coordination

  • Candidates with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in either events management, marketing & sales, or a similar position are encouraged to apply
  • Experience developing and managing external partnerships in the delivery of projects is required, as is demonstrable experience of running events from conception to competition
  • Proven success prospecting, developing and growing sales/branding opportunities, while ensuring retention of existing customers
  • Experience with managing and effectively utilizing a customer relations database (CRM) for data analysis and report generation

  • While not essential, candidates with the following would be an asset:
     

    • experience working with not-for-profits organizations – such as: child welfare agencies, community-based social service agencies, government

    • Experience with developing innovative marketing strategies would be an asset

    • copywriting experience
