Cargill is a large and reputable food company with operations around the world. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates a chicken processing plant in London, Ontario and a hatchery in Jarvis, Ontario. The processing plant employs approximately 900 employees and processes 85,000 chickens each day. The hatchery has approximately 70 employees and, on average, produces 150,000 chicks per day. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Spruce Grove, Alberta employing approximately 130 employees.
Position Overview:
As the Operations Supervisor based out of our poultry processing plant in London, ON, you will be responsible for the daily supervision, engagement and safety of the operations stakeholders to produce high quality ground beef patties. Your main accountabilities include the direction of the operations team to accomplish daily production goals, in an engaging manner, with an emphasis on people safety and food safety.
Principal Accountabilities:
40% - Supervision and Operational Excellence – Understand daily production demands and ensures that production needs are met. Maintain established staffing levels through recruitment scheduling and assignment of hourly stakeholders
30% - Food Safety and People Safety – Promote a culture of People safety and Food safety by championing best practices in these areas and ensuring accountability and adherence to Cargill’s programs
20% - Engagement and Development of Stakeholders – Train and motivate employees to drive maximum efficiency, productivity, food safety and quality, and engagement. Act as a resource for employees, through coaching, investigating and following up on employee issues
10% - Other projects and activities as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• Post-secondary diploma of related field
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated coaching, leadership and team-building skills
• Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
Preferred:
• Degree, diploma, or certification in Business, Management or Safety
• 1 or more years of supervisory experience
