POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for TIG welding various metal components or seams for the BioDevice business unit in a safe and efficient manner.  This includes but is not limited to the fabrication of materials using any of the following process:

• Tig Welding various materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and magnesium alloys to meet specifications and customer
• Setup of clamps, jigs, and fixtures to aide in the production of a job.
• Prepares materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using inspection instruments

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Tig Welding various materials to meet specifications and customer expectations in a manner consistent with the company’s quality and productivity standards.
• Setup of clamps, jigs, and fixtures to aide in the production of a job while working with such materials as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and magnesium alloys.
• Ability to select and identify the proper materials, including weld wire selection, needed to weld components.
• Prepares materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.  Utilizes fabrication skills to complete all phases of fabrication.
• Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using inspection instruments
• Responsible for maintaining welding equipment and operations in compliance with all local, state and federal guidelines/regulations (OSHA, etc)
• General knowledge of safety and progressively demonstrated Welding Safety

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Maintain effective communication with Manufacturing, Customer Service, Device Planning, Procurement, Device R&D/Engineering to ensure timely machining of desired parts/sub-assemblies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, trade or vocational school (welding) certificate
• Preferred - Successful completion of an apprenticeship program
• Preferred - Experience in TIG Welding; experience with low volume/high complexity automated systems

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Required - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
• Preferred – TIG Welding experience
• Preferred - Experience with ERP, MRP, WMS and/or Financial Systems (SAP, JDEdwards, etc)
• Ability to effectively communicate to internal customers and external suppliers verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Work environment is machine shop / parts inventory environment. 
• This position will require standing and lifting (up to 50lbs) throughout the day.
