Maintenance Assistant – Summer Student

 

Quintin Warner House of Mission Services of London has an opening for a 7-week contract position as a Maintenance Assistant. This position will report to the Director of Quintin Warner House.

 

Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

  • You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

  • You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year

  • You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year

  • You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

  • You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

  • foreign students are not eligible

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing general building and property maintenance (including a variety of plumbing, maintenance and carpentry functions.

  • Maintain cleaning equipment in accordance with Public Health and Health & Safety Standards.

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance of all major areas and equipment.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Diploma

  • Maintenance Training through a recognized Program

  • Knowledge of WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, CPI

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel

  • 1-2 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently

  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities

  • Ability to perform small repairs

 

Position Details

  • Salary $ 15.53/hour

  • 30 hours per week

  • Contract for 7 weeks from start date (to be negotiated)
