Housekeeper – Summer Student

The Men’s Mission & Rehabilitation Centre of Mission Services of London has an opening for a 7-week contract position as a Housekeeper. This position will report to the Program/Intake Supervisor.

Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

• You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

• You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year

• You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year

• You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

• You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

• foreign students are not eligible

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly etc.) to ensure building is maintained in a clean efficient manner.

• Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment (ie vacuums, polishers, buffers)

• Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings.

• Report any maintenance concerns to Maintenance department and/or Supervisor.

• Maintain a neat, hazard free and clean storage area in accordance with H&S standards.

Position Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent life experience.

• Knowledge of WHMIS, First Aid, CPI

• 6 months to 1 year experience with housekeeping, preferably in a residential/nursing home setting.

• Ability to read, write and speak English.

• Ability to follow oral directions.

• Ability to cooperate with other employees.

Position Details

• Salary $ 15.53/hour

• 30 hours per week

• Contract for 7 weeks from start date (to be negotiated)
