Position:  Database Developer

Job Description: On behalf of our client in the digital media realm Procom is searching for an experienced Database Developer will join the Data Management & Intelligence Technologies (DMIT) Team with the client’s Technology group and will be responsible for data modeling, database design, and database implementation in supporting several of the client’s product lines and projects. 

The successful candidate is expected to be dedicated and self-motivated and to have hands-on experience in MySQL 5.x and SQL Server 2008 technologies and tools. This is a full life cycle role- candidates will be involved with database development, design, modelling, troubleshooting and optimization.

The Database Developer role will involve working closely with Core-Technology, Products, Services, Quality Management and R&D teams, for developing data-driven and intelligence-based solutions.

Responsibilities: 

·         Active participation in managing database development projects independently or in teams supporting the client’s product lines with effective written and verbal communication with minimum supervision and guidance from the team lead

·         Capture data persistence, analysis, and reporting requirements for all aspects of products’ development and supporting projects clearly, completely and correctly.

·         Provide concept, logical, and physical data model for various product and customer driven projects.

·         Perform database development, troubleshooting, and optimization.

·         Adherence to the client’s Product Development and Quality Management standards and policies

Mandatory Skills: 

·         Minimum bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent training and experience.

·         3+ years experience in a mature engineering organization building packaged software products for digital media market in a quarterly paced environment with short and quick product lifecycles.

·         3+ year experience in MySQL and SQL Server database design and development using partitions, views, triggers, stored procedures, functions etc.

·         Good understanding of ACID and its enforcement techniques in MySQL and SQL Server using Primary Keys, Foreign Keys, Unique Keys, Checks, Triggers etc.

·         Good command of set based theory such as normalization and algorithm such as intersect, union, except.

·         Good command of SQL language with the capability of writing complex queries using SQL Server and MySQL SQL dialect.

·         3+ year experience in troubleshooting database issues such as performance, blocking, locking, deadlocking etc.

·         3+ year experience in database index design and optimization;

·         2+ year experience in database security design and implementation such as user/role management, access privilege management, policy, and auditing etc.

·         2+ years’ experience in relational and multi-dimensional data modeling, design, technologies, and practices.

·         Experience in SQL Server BI technologies such as SSIS, SSRS, SSAS is an asset.

·         Experience in managing database code in source control, preferably svn.

·         Experience in the areas of Linux, Java, Websphere Application Server is an asset.

·         Experience in the digital signage, promotion, and advertisement or related industries is an asset.
