Mechanical/Materials Engineering
A leading supplier to the defense industry for the Canadian Military is seeking applications for an immediate opportunity for a Materials Engineer to join the stowage and materials department on contract basis for 12 months, with strong consideration to go permanent. Wage: $28 – 35/hr. Dependent on Experience
Job Responsibilities:
- Support Design Engineers in the selection of Materials to meet customer requirements and contractual specifications
- Develop and maintain Materials Data Base for use by the design engineers. Follow established procedures
- Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to Production, supplier or field issues related to Materials
- Support Failure Investigations, create test plans, execute tests and create test reports
- Plan, organize, and maintain records of progression to ensure successful completion of assigned projects on schedule and within budget
- Develop plans and estimates for future projects (ROMS’s, BOE’s, project plans, informal estimates) in response to customer and contractual requirements
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in Materials Engineering (Required)
- Postgraduate degree in Materials Engineering (Preferred)
- 3-5 years’ work experience with materials in an automotive environment
- Experience with Composites, Plastics, Adhesives and Sealants
- Hands-on practical experience in materials engineering and failure analysis for automotive systems for off road vehicles or equipment
- Strong background in high strength steels, heat treatment processes, and castings
- High analytical skills to solve materials problems at component, subsystem, and system/vehicle level
- Experienced with mechanical drawings, ASTMs, ANSI, SAE, and MIL-Specs standards
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills in MS Office applications and other engineering software
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Willing and able to travel in Canada and the USA as needed (5%)
