What is a Front-End Developer?

The UI Developer will be part of the Digital Marketing Team within our Marketing Department. We deliver products and services that have the opportunity to impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of Canadians, every single day.
We are looking for a Front-End Developer who is a UI/UX guru with a passion for development, design and fitness. The Front-End Developer will be responsible for building and maintaining the UI and UX of our responsive Digital Marketing web properties that span our many business units.

Job Summary:

• Work with our agile team (developers, quality assurance, analysts) to design, develop and test new responsive web applications or changes to existing UI projects
• Lead the UI/UX design and development process to bridge design and technology resulting in compelling design with optimum usability
• Work with both internal and external brand customers to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Prepare mockup, prototypes and wireframes for stakeholder presentation
• Develop and research new, modern UI concepts to keep up with industry trends
• Participate in all phases of the development life cycle from requirements definition through product delivery and support
• Provide support for existing products and services as required through the day-to-day operation of the business
• Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications
• Champion and exemplify UI development and industry best practices
• Contribute to the team’s culture of continuous improvement

  Our Ideal Candidate:
• College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science, software engineering or web design
• 3+ years of hands on UI development experience with progressively increasing responsibility
• Expert level knowledge of modern development practices with a focus on front-end responsive development. (HTML5, CSS,
• JavaScript/JQuery, JSON, XML)
• Up to date knowledge of current UI best practices and usability concepts
• You have a thorough understanding of performance, cross-browser / cross-device development, testing, optimization, and front-end performance requirements
• Ability to understand a user's needs, behaviors, and desires and translate those into the most intuitive UI/UX possible
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum a definite plus
• Understanding and experience of SEO principles
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that can adapt to change
• Experience working with and integrating to 3rd party API’s
• Experience delivering software in a continuous integration environment
• Exposure to a development environments such as MVC, Visual Studio, ASP.NET considered an asset
• Familiarity with iOS and Android mobile application development frameworks would be beneficial
• Written and oral communication skills; interpersonal skills; team player
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, creative thinking
