Job Description

Agilus is looking for a Human Resources Director in London, ON. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer. As a key member of the leadership team, the HR Director will provide transformational leadership and strategy for all HR activities, including but not limited to: labour relations, compensation, recruitment and selection, HRIS, health and safety, learning and development, performance management, employee engagement and organizational structure for businesses in both Canada and the Netherlands. 


 


Job Responsibilities:



  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to plan, develop and deliver HR functions that will form a portion of our foundation that will promote continued growth and improved financial performance of the business.

  • In cooperation with the leadership team, develop both long term and short-term plans, goals and objectives for Human Resources including, but not limited to, strategic plans, business plans and financial plans; ensuring that the Human Resources elements of the strategic plan are met and empowering the HR Team to take the lead in their own areas of responsibility.

  • Support the management team with people management from recruitment and selection strategies to on-boarding, performance management and progressive discipline.

  • Work with leadership team to plan and manage the HR activities related to mergers and acquisitions (integration of compensation, payroll, HRIS, roles and responsibilities, etc.)

  • Build and champion an organizational culture that promotes business best practices.

  • Assess, develop and coordinate workplace policies and programs for Canadian Operations in accordance with applicable legislation; communicating and enforcing business values.

  • Work with leadership team to develop talent development strategies which build business capabilities.

  • Support the Health and Safety function of the business, ensuring line managers and supervisors adhere to all OH&S programs, policies and practices and that employees are following pre-determined training schedules to encourage a safe work environment.

  • Coach, challenge and assist line managers in HR functions such as employment law, and the implementation of policies such as performance management, attendance management and employee participation

  • Assist in the completion of workplace investigations as required (incident investigation, MOL, human rights, etc.)

  • Work with the Human Resources team to oversee the Canadian benefits programs interfacing with both the program supplier and employees.

  • Work with Human Resources team to develop and deliver a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to maintain record keeping and increase efficiencies.

  • Analyse and develop opportunities to increase efficiency, productivity and positive change

  • Ensure compliance with employment law.

  • Prepare reports and make presentations as necessary.

  • Attend Executive Team meetings, staff meetings and other meetings and seminars as required.

  • Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities.

  • Occasional on-call support and after-hours work may be required.

  • Ability to travel as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:



  • 10 years of experience of working in a similar role, ideally in the waste management industry or public sector

  • Must be CHRL or CHRE qualified

  • Must have experience with company mergers and acquisitions or experience integrating an acquired company's policies and people

  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex employee relation issues

  • Strong track record in delivering company-level change management initiatives including restricting and senior management recruitment

  • Preferable demonstrable experience of managing employee engagement programs

  • Excellent IT literacy with high proficiency in Microsoft Office, Payroll Software, HRIS, etc.

  • Strong communication skills and Team player

  • Can demonstrate good attention to detail

  • Has personal credibility and gravitas to provide an incisive contribution and be an active mentor and coach to the leadership team

  • Work on own initiative with ability to prioritize and work to tight deadlines

  • High levels of drive and flexibility

  • Ability to travel up to 15% within Canada (primarily to BC and Ottawa)
