RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of the Human Resources Specialist is to provide functional and administrative support to the HR Department in a highly professional manner. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Provides administrative assistance to the HR Department
- Administers recruitment functions including resume screening, interviewing, reference checking
- Completes new employee orientation and training development
- Assists with employee relations activities
- Administers benefits program
- Ensures employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health
- Responsible for employee attendance tracking, vacation tracking, record keeping
- Develops / maintains performance management and improvement tracking systems
- Assists with the application of company policies / procedures
- Assists with the Corrective Action process and participates in the coaching / disciplinary processes as required
- Ensures effective organization of files / personnel records
- Performs other related duties as required / needed
- Post secondary education in business administration (college or university) required
- Minimum 3 years experience working in an HR related role required
- Experience in HR related role within manufacturing environment preferred
- Understanding of all applicable legislation related to HR and its functions (WSIB, Human Rights, OHSA, ESA, etc.)
- Experience with recruitment related activities involving resume screening, interviewing, reference checking, orientation, and training development
- Experience in administration of benefits and other HR related programs including enrollments, benefit orientations, changes, terminations, reconciliations, and assisting with benefits claim issues and/or concerns
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative
- Must be a team player / self starter who pays attention to accuracy and detail
- Must possess excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills to effectively provide departmental support in an effective and efficient manner
- Must be able to take directions well and are able to work independently and as a team player
- Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality
- Advanced MS Office skills
