Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Works closely with staff specialists, customers, and suppliers to lead and assess requirements for new and existing manufacturing processes within the plant. The Coordinator establishes process requirements regarding machine, material and methods in the quoting stage, launch stage, as well as engineering changes and continuous improvement to new and current production. The Coordinator utilizes standard processing tools to evaluate new and existing processes to design the best equipment to meet our business needs. The Engineering coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the project from its inception, through PPAP, production, and service.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

1.  Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering with a min of 2 years of experience.

2.  Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.

3.  Experience in Manufacturing Assembly.

4.  Experience in processing equipment from inception to launch.

5.. Experience with various welding processes (e.g. Mig, Spot, Projection, etc.)

6.  Knowledge and experience in TPS or other Lean Manufacturing systems is preferred.

7.  Ability to use CAD software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks.

8.  Must be knowledgeable in APQP, PDP, GD&T, PPAP, & PFMEA documentation and processes

9.  Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

10.Knowledge of and familiarity with Tooling Build Standards, Machine Build Standard and Check Fixture Standards

11. Must have a track record of building relationships with internal and external sources which are founded on trust, collaboration and cooperation.

 

 
 
DUTIES:
 
  1. Prepare capital quotation packages for approval as required.
  2. Capable of processing customer product through the entire production process.
  3. Leads and actively participates in continuous improvement projects.
  4. Develop, plan, manage, and implement various projects for safety, quality, ergonomic, and production improvements
  5. Supplies any bill of material/assembly tooling process changes to Program Team.
  6. Supplies cost and timing of assigned engineering changes to Program Team and/or Sales Coordinator.
  7. Capable of managing and leading projects from inception to completion – timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, budget, prototyping, programs engineering changes and the cross functional review of projects.
  8. Responsible for PFMEA development and maintenance for assembly process, including cross functional review of related control plans
  9. Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation such as combination tables, periodic and standardized work charts, required for engineering initiatives and projects.
  10. Works closely with other departments and customers to design solutions to improve production processes, improve quality, reduce downtime, increase O.A., improve ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation.
  11. Participate as required in all ISO/IATF-16949 activities related to area of responsibility
  12. Participate in, and drive cross functional participation in, design/process reviews, and equipment buy-offs, spill detection, in the launch of new equipment.
  13. Assist in training plant personnel when requested.
  14. Assist in shop floor problem solving using 3 legged 5 why as well as other customer specific problem solving methods
  15. Efficient in Microsoft Office and other engineering related software
  16. Comes to work each day, as scheduled.
  17. Approaches each day and each challenge with a positive attitude.
  18. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
  19. Supports and models the Presstran operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook and “How We Work Together”, Magna Employee’s Charter, Magna Corporate Constitution.
  20. Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (e.g.. ISO/IATF-16949, ISO14001).
  21. Required to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.   Follows and ensures the Company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout their assigned area.
  22. Takes pride in keeping their work area clean and tidy.
  23. Other duties as required.
     
    EQUIPMENT and/or PRODUCT FAMILIARITY:
     
    Software:   Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other Windows based environments. Ability to use CAD
    software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks.
     
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
     
    Under the general direction of the Department Manager: must be able to work independently, conferring regularly with plant personnel and outside contractors. Works in an office environment but may be exposed to some elements such as working in confined/awkward positions with exposure to noise/temperature/heights.  A valid driver’s license and passport are required, as day travel is a requirement of the job; overnight travel occasionally.
