Overview of the Position

Reporting to the Director of Planning, the Contract Planning & GIS Technician will play a key role in supporting the Planning Department’s core functions of County Planning, Local Planning, Forestry, and Mapping. The Technician’s primary responsibilities will be to work with the County’s Geographic Information System to develop and maintain web-GIS applications, create and maintain spatial data, complete data analysis and manipulation, produce mapping products, and to assist County departments and local municipalities with GIS related tasks. The County utilizes a variety of GIS and Mapping software systems including ArcMap, ArcServer, ArcGIS Online, Geocortex, and AutoCAD. It is noted that as a result of the current COVID-19 Emergency our working arrangements are flexible and at present include a combination of working from home and working from offices. This is subject to change as a result of Provincial Government direction, health authority direction, and/or policy changes implemented by the County.
