Data Quality Analyst
StarTech.com is currently looking for a Data Quality Analyst to join our IT team at our Corporate Office in London, Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager, Data Governance, the Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for developing a data quality program from the ground up, and maintaining the program moving forward.
The Data Quality Analyst will participate in the development, implementation, and facilitation of data quality processes, metrics, and quality controls, acting as a resource for the organization by leading and supporting data-cleansing initiatives. Working with stakeholders, the Data Quality Analyst will identify critical data elements and define data quality criteria, including business rules, definitions, and tolerance levels. This person will also establish data quality dimensions (data completeness, conformance, consistency, and validity) and define and document the scope, business rules, and attributes of data audits.

Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders across the organization to identify critical data elements and define data quality criteria including business rules, definitions, and tolerance levels
- Establish data quality dimensions, such as data completeness, conformance, consistency and validity
- Identify and ensure the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a cost-effective and timely fashion
- Identify trends and patterns within 3rd party data submission to proactively address data quality issues
- Develop data quality assessment and data quality business rules to support projects
- Measure and communicate on the progress of data quality improvements.
- Lead or otherwise support the data-cleansing initiatives for the purpose of improving, purging and / or eliminating corrupt, missing or redundant information from enterprise systems
- Assure metadata standards are followed for new and existing data including both structured and unstructured data
Desired Skills and Experience
- Data warehouse, advanced SQL and programming knowledge and experience.
- Foundational understanding of data management, data modeling and data structures (tables, hierarchical structures, foreign keys etc.)
- Demonstrated experience using master data management and data quality tools to perform data quality processes (e.g., Informatica).
- Demonstrated experience defining and managing data quality processes, such as matching, cleansing, and standardization.
- Demonstrated experience with data migration an asset
- Knowledge of data integrity standards and solid understanding of statistical variances in quantitative analysis
- Knowledge of data collection processes and strategies
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of data lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of activities, tasks, practices and deliverables associated with eliciting and clearly defining and documenting required business functionality as well as information requirements.
- Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Detailed understanding of metadata; basic understanding of data governance practices – data stewardship principles, data architecture principles, data quality and basic data management best practices
- Ability to synthesize and distill information from multiple sources
- Ability to communicate effectively across functions and organizational levels
- Degree or equivalent in a strongly quantitative oriented field, business, mathematics, statistics or computer science.
