Disability Management Specialist
 
Job Specifications:
 
  • Manage WSIB illness and injury claims, facilitate early & safe return to work programs, co-ordinate non-work related disability claims (STD, LTD), and provide expertise on attendance management programs
  • Lead and oversee workplace health, safety, and wellness programs while also providing advice and guidance to management and Team Members on the general functions of the Company’s Health & Safety and Disability Management programs
  • Maintain health & safety and disability documents and templates, as well as confidential health records for all Team Members in both electronic and physical files.
  • Evaluate work areas, work procedures, the working environment, accident/injury data and other aspects relating to health & safety
  • Liaison with external contacts including MOL, WSIB, and Sunlife
  • Continually ensure legislative compliance in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, including the Duty to Accommodate, while reducing risk for both the Company and the Team Member
  • Make recommendations for policies and safety related training programs, and create/implement action plans for continuous improvement
  • Provide support to the Joint Health & Safety Committee and ensure that health & safety concerns are communicated and resolved
 
Job Qualifications:
 
  • University Degree or College Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or Disability Management
  • 5-7 years of experience in disability management and/or Occupational Health and Safety, managing WSIB, STD, LTD and rehabilitation claims management
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP)
  • Any additional courses in Health & Safety/Disability Management is considered an asset
