Registered Nurse
Are you a conscientious and well-organized registered nurse? Do you have a strong commitment to the care and well-being of others? If your answer is yes, please consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to bring your skills to the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre’s facility health care teams.
Please note: there are ten temporary On-Call/Irregularly Scheduled positions - working 0 - 40 hours per week, with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.
What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Nurse, you will:
• conduct health assessments
• provide emergency intervention
• dispense medication
• liaise with other professionals and correctional staff

How do I qualify?
Mandatory Requirement
• you must have a current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing
• you must be able to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays
Nursing Skills
• you have an understanding of nursing theories and practices
• you are able to interpret and apply relevant legislation
• you have effective assessment, reasoning, judgment and analytical skills
• you can identify and evaluate health care issues and determine appropriate treatment
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• you use your communication and counselling skills to deal effectively with staff and clients
• you are able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with a diverse client group
• you can use a computer to prepare reports and input and retrieve offender information
Salary Range: $1,251.30 - $1,560.03 per week

The screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision.
