On behalf of our client, London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), we are looking a skilled and professional Director of Workforce Development.

Who is the LEDC? 

The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) is the lead economic development agency for London, Canada. Working with business, government, academic institutions, and industry partners, we support the growth of existing businesses, attract new businesses to London, and ensure companies have the talent, resources, and business conditions they need to continue scaling. 

The Position 

This role is to ensure that London builds excellent workforce capacity, that  is seen as an asset for corporate growth and retention and that the systems in place are preparing people for jobs of present and future. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the systems create and support job growth, that employers can find and retain talent for a diverse range of job opportunities.  

What will you do? 

  • Collaborate with, build relationships, unite key stakeholders (industry and company leaders) and connect cross-system teams to identify employer and workforce needs,  

  • Inform the creation of quality programs, materials, and workforce development solutions to build job seeker capabilities that meet the needs of employers and communicate LEDC services and program details to appropriate groups, employers and organizations.  

  • Proactively seek out meaningful external partnerships with EDC’s and related organizations to conduct research and share information related to benchmarking, evaluating best practice standards, and subsequently creating/updating a dynamic LEDC workforce development strategy for changing local and regional environments. 

  • Consult and partner with a wide variety of employers to understand growth and talent barriers/challenges; in turn, effectively analyze and prioritize LEDC activities to support client’s increasing and ever-changing workforce needs. 

  • Develop comprehensive, leading edge workforce solutions that are consistent with principles of Workforce Development practices, which will achieve intended job growth and employment metrics for the City of London and surrounding areas. 
     

Who are you? 

You hold, at least, an undergraduate degree coupled with 10+ years of business development, operations, sales, or HR experience at a senior level working in more than one industry. You have an executive level of understanding of people functions and workforce dynamics and are approachable, and diplomatic with excellent public speaking skills.   

You enjoy business travel and are comfortable networking and working outside of the normal 9 – 5 business day.  You are comfortable driving your own vehicle for businesses purposes.
