Talentcor London is recruiting a Junior Accountant-2 month contract for our client, a well-recognized employer in London, ON. This position is a 2 month contract with the opportunity for extension.

The incumbent completes accounting processes required to reconcile bank accounts, maintaining internal controls over accounts receivables and in providing clerical support and assistance to the corporate insurance program.

Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconciles bank accounts to ensure the general ledger balances coincide with the bank statement balances and submits adjusting journal entries as required. Included is assistance to other department's banking related inquiries concerning bank deposits, debit and credit card processes
- Reviews aging reports of 'Other' accounts receivable balances and actions delinquent accounts including sponsored agency balances
- Ensures the data integrity of the financial records, monitors adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and to provincial financial consolidation reporting guidelines by:
- Ensuring accounting transactions are recorded properly and on a timely basis
- Identifying general ledger errors and processing adjustments accordingly
- Completing the posting of financial information to the general ledger
- Refreshing the Access financial information database
- Reconciles other banking related general ledger line accounts and submits adjusting journal entries as required for items such as incoming and outgoing wire payments
- Assists the Senior Accountant with the preparation of certificates of insurance requested from staff
- Performs other duties as assigned
- 2 year diploma – Finance or accounting. Enrollment in CPA, CMA or CGA.
- 2 years accounting and bank reconciliation experience gained as a team player in a service oriented office environment using a variety of computer software packages such as spreadsheets and word processing in an educational environment
