The Manager, Administration and Finance provides strategic leadership and stewardship to the Department of Psychiatry. As a member of the management team, the Manager assists in establishing the vision for, and directs the finance and administrative functions of the Department of Psychiatry, which consists of 87 clinical and basic science faculty members, 12 staff, and 32 trainees.
With the Departmental Chair/Chief, the Manager, Administration and Finance is responsible and accountable for the development of the Departmental Strategic Plan and leads the implementation to ensure successful alignment and progress.

The Manager, Administration and Finance will ensure that appropriate financial and administrative procedures and practices are in place, in accordance with University and Hospital polices, in order to meet the multiple missions of the medical education program delivery, research and scholarly work, and provision of medical services by full-time clinical academic faculty and community-based faculty of the Department. The Manager ensures continuity of administrative operations throughout changes in clinical academic leadership in a complex and interwoven institutional environment. 

  Qualifications
Education:
-   Honours University Degree in Business, Administration, Healthcare (or equivalent/related field)
-   Master's Degree preferred
-   CIM, Accounting and/or HR designation preferred
 
Experience:
-   5 years senior management experience (HR, financial, administrative, operational)
-   5 years supervisory experience (leading teams and leadership)
-   Experience in strategic planning, implementation and operationalization
-   Experience in a unionized or public sector environment preferred
-   Experience in a clinical academic environment preferred
 
Skills & Expertise:
-   Knowledge of Collective agreements, University policies and procedures, Hospital policies and procedures, Canadian Medical Education and Health Care delivery System and Fund Accounting Principles
-   Knowledge of PeopleSoft HR and PeopleSoft Financial
-   Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop shared vision to lead employees to excellence
-   Demonstration of strong fiscal management, collaborative leadership and team building skills
-   Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
-   Advanced ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing), lead business discussions and train others
-   Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach team members as well as support internal/external clients
-   Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
-   Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and others effectively
-   Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
