The School of Tourism and Hospitality is seeking a Part-time Professor to teach in the Special Events Planning program.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
- Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
- Remaining current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education
- Strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies and employers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and to working within a team environment
- Post-secondary 3 year diploma/degree in a related fieldMinimum 5 years recent and related experience in a managerial position
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
- Experience in conference planning, sport and entertainment events, social events, and exhibitions
- CMP and/or CMM and/or CEM designation preferred
- Strong food and beverage knowledge required
- Working knowledge of event technology and systems
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level preferred
- Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
