YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario.

Employees and volunteers of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Position: Social Media Associate
Location: London, ON (Wortley Village) + hybrid/flex work model
Start Date: October 2024
Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 annually (Mon-Fri / 40 hours per week)
As part of your total compensation:

In this role, you will:
• Develop and manage association’s social media strategy with a primary objective of growing followers and engagement across all social, including LinkedIn
• Create engaging social media content and provide support to other departments
• Attend YSWO events; capture, create and publish content across social networks
• Support community events by organizing inventory and distribution of merch
• Support and co-lead YMCA storytelling projects
• Create materials in a timely manner according to Communications calendar
• Photography and video capture + editing
• Measure social content results and conduct regular reporting, deriving insights to make changes in future content creation
• Plan and collaborate with the Digital Communications Manager on communication projects to broaden reach and increase engagement
• Assist with web edits and online material updates (news blogs)
• Be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
• Embrace and exemplify the Y’s core values
Education & Skills Qualifications:
• BA in English and/or communication studies or related field
• Post-secondary education or experience in public relations
• 2 years marketing and communications experience
• Experience managing large social media accounts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills & strong interpersonal skills
• Strong computer/digital skills
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to manage multiple demands and deadlines
• Comfort with website content management systems and blog writing
• A valid G2 licence and reliable vehicle to facilitate travel between branches required
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
