Permanent and Temporary Part-time Personal Attendants positions available in London

Cheshire is a non-profit organization that has dedicated 36 years to meeting the attendant service needs of individuals with physical disabilities in London and five surrounding counties. With Cheshire’s Assisted Living programs, we support adults with physical disabilities and frail seniors to live independently in their communities through the provision of personal support services that are mutually respectful and value the contributions of all.  By promoting a ‘Person Centred Support’ philosophy, Cheshire empowers consumers by tailoring each individual’s care to their own unique needs, interests, habits and desires.

Responsibilities as a Personal Attendant with Cheshire will include but not necessarily limited to: personal grooming, bathing, washing and hygiene; toileting and routine, stabilized bowel/bladder care; getting up and going to bed; transfers, lifts and other assisted mobility needs; meal preparation, serving clean up and assisted eating; cleaning and laundry; escort to appointments, range of motion and general fitness exercises; injectable insulin; tracheotomy care; and intermittent catheterization.

To be considered for a Personal Attendant position all applicants must:
 
  1. Hold a PSW or DSW certificate (unless year 2+ nursing student)
  2. Possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License and have regular access to a reliable vehicle
  3. Have valid automobile insurance
  4. Currently have (or able to acquire) a current and negative Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  5. Be available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. 
  6. Be able to rotate on Pager and On-call pager responsibilities as a normal part of your working week
  7. Possess knowledge/ ability to use proper body mechanics and safe lifting/ transferring techniques
  8. Understand the physical demands of this role will include frequent repositioning, and using appropriate mechanical lifts to transfer consumers, bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing/descending stairs, walk, sit and stand. 

We offer our Personal Attendants a very competitive starting pay rate of $19.26/hr + 8% in lieu of benefits and compensation for mileage and travel time. Cheshire provides on the job training, continuous career development opportunities through a diverse consumer service model .  Emergency First Aid and CPR (re)certification is also provided by the agency.
