Electrical Engineer - Vehicle Systems

A leading supplier to the defense industry for the Canadian Military is seeking applications for an immediate opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join the team on permanent basis. We’re looking for someone innovative, who is interested in future technologies and able to manage tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and changing requirements. As a member of the Vetronics team, you will be exposed to a broad range of exciting projects, with the opportunity to be involved in the full life cycle development.

The candidate will lead the design and development, integration and testing of high voltage architectures for new vehicle platforms will offer experience in the following areas:

• Development of design solutions for the control, distribution and management of high voltage systems
• Definition, development and decomposition of requirement sets for power electronic components and systems
• Development of RFQs for power electronic components
• Conducting testing to verify concepts and progress designs to production readiness

Required Qualifications:

• University degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer Status – P.Eng
• 9+ Years of Experience in Electrical Design is required
• Experience designing, integrating and validating safety systems for high voltage/high power
• Experience with industry standards relevant to the design of hybrid electrical vehicle systems
• Experience with 600-850 VDC power electronic systems
• Matlab Simulink / Simscape Software Experience
• Laboratory or field testing of power electronic systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in  working the full life cycle of a project from bidding and requirements definition, through designing, building, qualifying and supporting the fielded hardware
• Experience with integration and testing of high voltage battery or capacitor systems
• Experience with industry standards relevant to the design of hybrid electrical vehicle systems
• Familiarity with ISO 26262
