The Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) was formed in the fall of 2010 with a mandate of making Ontario a world leader in brain research.  In 2011, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Strong, Dean, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, a proposal was submitted to the OBI to form a provincial network of clinicians and scientists studying neurodegenerative diseases.  In February of 2013, $28.5M, 5-year longitudinal research project was approved to study elements that are common to Alzheimer's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and Vascular Cognitive Impairment.  The study is province-wide and 625 patients will be recruited from 13 sites located in Hamilton, Kingston, London, Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Toronto.
 
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator serves as an essential member of the Ontario Neurodegenerative Disease Research Initiative (ONDRI) team. S/he is responsible for program coordination and administrative support to the ONDRI project management (Project Manager, 4 Clinical Research Managers, Clinical Neuropsychologist, Financial Officer, Communications Coordinator) and governance (Executive Committee) teams. 

The incumbent will be responsible for responding to inquiries and communicating accurate information; providing superior customer service and representing ONDRI at all times in a professional, courteous and effective manner.  The incumbent will also organize workshops, conferences, meetings, and teleconferences.  The Program Coordinator schedules the Project Manager’s calendar (meetings, teleconferences, presentations, etc.) and coordinates travel arrangements for the project management team (transportation, hotel, completing expense reports, etc.) as required.  The incumbent will prepare Protocol Amendments and Ethics Dossiers 1-2 times per year and will be responsible for general office duties.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-  Community College diploma in Business Administration
-  Undergraduate University degree in Life Sciences preferred
 
Experience:
-  5 years related experience in a research environment (clinical/hospital).
-  Preference will be given to those who have previous involvement/experience in a clinical research environment.
Skills & Expertise:
-  Skilled in all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); GroupWise, PeopleSoft; Mustang Market; Google Docs
-  Ability to work independently and with a considerable degree of initiative
-  Effective multi-tasking skills, with proven attention to detail and aptitude for accuracy and thoroughness
-  Demonstrated strong organizational, prioritizing and time management skills to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
-  Knowledge and understanding of Western as well as hospital policies and procedures
-  Sensitivity to confidential information including tact and diplomacy
-  Ability to tactfully communicate with ~ 40 of Ontario' premier neurodegeneration researchers
-  Outstanding interpersonal, communication and telephone skills
