Position Details

CARPROOF is excited to announce that we are looking for a new addition to our growing team in the role of VP – Technology.  Your role will be mission critical to assist the whole Development/ IT vertical with strong people management and leadership, ensuring best-in-class products are being built to timelines, and managing a diversified scope of internal projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The VP – Technology will have the unique opportunity to define and implement CARPROOF’s technology strategy and create a future that leads to the successful execution of the corporate vision. You will be deeply engaged across the business, taking the time to understand what drives the brand, marketing, operations, logistics and financial goals. 

 

CARPROOF is fortunate to have a team of experienced and talented developers, internal IT resources, and back-end support personnel. We work with very large databases and completely revolutionary projects within Canada and throughout the globe with our partners IHS Markit and CARFAX.

 

You will ensure the company is forward-thinking in core technical competencies. This is a great opportunity for someone currently in a Director-level position that is looking to grow their career.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

Technology Management

  • Rapidly assimilate, comprehend, drive, and be accountable for the company’s technology environments, software and hardware processes, technology architecture, and the development of its core IP.
  • Manage an Agile development environment, refine cadence, and continually develop disciplined development processes and tools.
  • Provide leadership oversight of cloud services, data-center and network operations, and architecture – prioritizing scalability and performance and security, while monitoring quality control.
  • Employ and administer effective software development and project management methodologies for administering development schedules, quality control, and documentation.
  • Develop and implement Key Performance Metrics to determine needed technology improvements as well as manage 24/7 uptime operations for production and application deployment environments.

 

Technical Vision and Strategy

  • Lead the development of CARPROOF’s technology strategy.
  • Articulate the technology strategy and vision to staff, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and share best practices with CARFAX Technical Leadership team.

 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, high-energy personality who operates “hands on” in his/her current role and looks forward to working with Agile-based teams.
  • Continually improve the Development, IT, Dev Ops and Systems teams through recruiting, mentoring, and process improvement, including an understanding of the skills and traits most needed to improve the team.
  • Build internal leadership through selection, team structure and mentoring.
  • Influence a culture of innovation, performance and high-quality product development.
  • Increase productivity, reaching ambitious deadlines on key projects.
  • Build and inspire a team, generating a strong sense of pride, urgency and willingness to work towards ambitious goals.

 

Education and Experience Required              

 

  • A minimum of 8+ years in a previous position which could include: Director or VP Technology, Product Development or R&D.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent field.
  • Experience in developing:
  • Big data, analytics, web-based technologies
  • Software solutions for large scale API platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead a high performance organization that successfully:
  • Delivers and deploys highly complex enterprise solutions
  • Supports and maintains large scale platforms and applications
  • Maintains a 24/7/365 production environment.
  • Experienced in SDLC process and management concepts, including:
  • Utilizing and implementing development methodologies (i.e. Agile).
  • Effective use of metrics to develop strategies for improving the software process.
  • Accurately estimating resources needed for software projects.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Insatiable curiosity to uncover and understand market or business problems.
  • Expert business planning ability with strong bias to action.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Willing to ‘roll up their sleeves’.
