Job Description
The Construction Lead Hand will assist in leading Pathways’ Build Works Team. Build Works is a social enterprise commercial construction business. The Construction Lead Hand will oversee projects and staff ensuring that construction projects are completed on time, within budget and to appropriate standards of quality, while maintaining the mission and values of the organization.
Accountabilities:
- Provide oversight and perform construction tasks on a variety of demolition, deconstruction and renovation projects
- Monitor day to day activities at various sites to ensure quality, progress, safety and adherence to contract specifications
- Lead and train crews of 4
- Liaise with Project Manager on project status and milestones
- Create materials lists and ensure that materials are on sites in a timely manner
- Interact with customers in a friendly and respectful manner
- Monitor worker performance, provide coaching and mentoring to close any skill gaps, and make staffing recommendations to Leadership Team
- Oversee Occupational Health & Safety compliance at all sites
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must have valid D/L
- Proven experience in the following: framing, mudding, taping, drywalling, renovations
- Knowledge of general construction methods
- High level of organization and initiative
- Working at Heights training
- WHMIS certification
