Job Description

WIL Employment Connections (WIL) and the Access Centre for Regulated Employment (ACRE) are currently seeking applications for an Employment Counsellor to be responsible for the newly upgraded Immigrant Loan Program.  

 

WIL and ACRE provide information, application assistance and related support for internationally trained workers (ITWs) in southwestern Ontario seeking licensure and employment in Ontario’s regulated professions.  This position will assist ITWs in accessing low cost loans to provide financial support for relevant post-secondary, bridging and skills-based programming, examination fees and professional fees that will lead to their accreditation/licensure.

 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • The provision of timely access to assessment, credential review and application assistance.  Translation and evaluation services for internationally trained individuals.
  • The development of personalized work plans for clients seeking licensure and employment in regulated professions in Ontario.
  • Identification and referral to appropriate community resources to assist individuals in meeting their goals.
  • Maintenance of records, delivery of contracted reports and timely follow-ups.
  • Facilitation of Immigrant Loan information sessions throughout Southwestern Ontario.
  • Development and delivery of a multi-media plan to market the Immigrant Loan Program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education with emphasis in human services and/or employment counselling.
  • Experience in the field of employment counselling for internationally trained individuals.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and technical ability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local and regional labour market.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local and regional employment, education and training resources available for internationally trained individuals.
  • Knowledge or relevant experience with Personal Finance and Money Management Basics.
  • French speaking/Bilingual an asset.
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel throughout Southwestern Ontario.
