Financial Analyst

We currently have great opportunity for a Financial Analyst. This position will have an active role in analyzing the municipality’s financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data and recommending actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist in preparing, reviewing and distributing monthly financial reports
* Track expenses and revenues vs. budget and reforecast and analyze fluctuations
* Prepare regular ad hoc reports for Director of Finance/Treasurer
* Coordinate financials questions/answers among departments and Finance Administration department
* Prepare annual financial information to be provided to the external auditors
* Prepare quarterly operating reports
* Create and update various financial reports
* Assist in the budget & reforecast process
* Maintain budget and reforecast information in the accounting system
* Evaluate profit and cost efficiencies in various areas of the organization as needed
* Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Post-Secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Accounting/Business Administration)
* Enrollment in a professional accounting designation program (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) is preferred
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in reporting, consolidation and financial analysis in the municipal sector
* Accounting/GAAP knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)
* Working knowledge of Great Plains Accounting software, Caseware
* Excellent Communication skills (Listening, Writing, Verbal)
* Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills
* Ability to complete projects timely and accurately is critical
* Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
* Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment

We offer a salary range of $48,321 - $58,022. and a competitive benefits package.
