The Project Manager will contribute to the success of accreditation of undergraduate programs, in the Faculty of Engineering by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), by facilitating graduate attributes data development and collection, continuous improvement processes and providing oversight for the day-to-day activities of the project. The incumbent will lead the effective implementation of graduate attributes, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed of progress and that the outcomes are achieved within the timeline required prior to the accreditation visit by CEAB, and in compliance with CEAB guidelines. The Project Manager will offer expertise in all aspects of the project, and ensure the effective alignment of resources to best support the attainment of the objectives. The incumbent will manage the development of project plans, support the design, implementation and evaluation of the project components, and contribute to the collection, analysis and dissemination of results. The Project Manager will also prepare project status reports for stakeholders, and develop reports in compliance with CEAB guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Administration
- Project Management Professional Certification completed or in progress
- Bachelor’s of Engineering Science or courses taken related to Engineering preferred
Experience:
- 3 years' experience with project management, program evaluation and with professional accreditation processes and reporting
- Experience working in an academic environment supporting leaders, faculty and staff is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of group facilitation techniques including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of professional accreditation processes in professional schools and with regulations and guidelines governing accreditation in an academic environment
- Familiarity with best practices for reviewing and writing reports and with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a database
- Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Ability to handle details with a high degree of accuracy and to organize and prioritize a high volume of work to meet deadlines
- Ability to efficiently handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting effective priorities
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative, innovation and good judgment in decision-making
- Ability to ensure that project team roles are clear, milestones are communicated and deadlines are met
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Familiarity with University policies and practices preferred
