Job Description

Radiant (www.thinkradiant.com), a world-class leader in marketing and technology for churches and ministries is looking to add a web developer to its team.

The ideal candidate will be working directly with development and UX team and should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in at least ONE of the following languages: ColdFusion, PHP, .NET, Ruby, Python, TCL
  • 5+ years experience in at least ONE of the following database platforms: SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase
  • 5+ years experience in HTML

Additional experience in the following areas will be helpful (but not required):

  • JavaScript / AJAX
  • CSS (and responsive design)
  • Mobile app development
  • Multilingual (French / English)
  • Adobe Photoshop (using toolsets/guidelines/general components)
  • Foosball / Ping Pong :)

Some of your job responsibilities will include:

  • Understand, support and build new modules for our proprietary CMS – Radiant WebTools (www.radiantwebtools.com) and BarkBuilder (www.barkbuilder.com) (developed in ColdFusion and Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Assist in the development of flowcharts and Project Requirements Documents
  • Work with our development and UX teams to challenge each other and develop new innovative ideas
  • Develop new tools and custom applications in ColdFusion, AJAX, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Develop and maintain MS SQL Server databases
  • Understand and develop new technologies that are SEO friendly and integrate with APIs like Facebook and Twitter.
  • Provide client support on pre-existing applications

  • What is the salary? To Be Determined (Based on Experience)
  • Do I have to be in London, ON? Yes, for this position, you will be required to be present in our London, Ontario offices.
  • Is it a full-time position? Yes (pending a 3-month trial)
  • Are there benefits? If we do bring you on full-time, we have a great benefits package.
  • When are you looking for this person to start? Tentatively October 2015
  • I see your primary development language is ColdFusion. Is that a requirement? No. Although experience in ColdFusion would be great, most of our developers here come from a PHP or .NET background and have easily transitioned to ColdFusion. Like any language, you will be required to get yourself up to speed quickly.
  • Why do you use ColdFusion? ColdFusion is an extremely powerful JAVA-based technology, used primarily in enterprise-level organizations, government sectors and universities. It is very modular and has been widely supported for over 20 years.
  • Are you looking for someone more experienced, or are you looking for a Junior? As per the minimum requirements, you do need to have a fair bit of experience in server-side technology You must be a person who pays careful attention to detail, and works well with a team.
  • What is the work environment like? We think Radiant (and Bark Communications) is a fun place to work. We care about our staff, we have lots of fun (joking around, playing ping pong and foosball, taking corporate outings, etc.) We don’t have cubicles. And we take time off at Christmas (that doesn’t count against your vacation) – usually a week or week and a half, depending on when Christmas falls.
  • Will you provide me with a computer? Of course. We are an Apple shop, but if you prefer a PC, we can do that too.
  • What are the hours? Generally speaking, 9-5. That said, if you want to work 8-4 (or something more flexible), we can arrange that.
