Position Summary:
We are looking for a CAD Designer who has CAD drafting and design experience within the HVAC industry. The select individual will be working closely with Design Engineers in the design and application of new products, maintenance of current product as well as offer sound technical support for our various products. The position is in the Engineering Department with focus on product design and will liaison with various product groups and our production teams.
Job Description:
  • Work in the Engineering Department and support the product development Engineers and Designers in drafting and design, utilizing 3D CAD design software.
  • Aid in the design of quality HVAC equipment using best practices to support long term reliability while also providing economical production costs and maintaining regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, instructions, bill of materials, product renders, and product costing
  • Prepare dimensional drawings, revising and updating existing drawings to reflect design changes, maintaining notes and other documentation for future reference, and filing drawings.
  • Liaison with the Production Team in supporting product build standards and operational requirements of sheet metal equipment and machinery.
  • Support Design Engineers in various product development, research and best practices to maintain a high standard of current and future product requirements.
  • Liaison with the Sales & Application Team in supporting submittal and application requests supplying 2D drawings.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining engineering standards, document necessary engineering changes, notes and develop technical documentation.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of supporting documentation, specifications, technical manuals, etc.
  • Provide technical support, training, documentation to production teams as required.
  • Complete other duties as directed by the Manager of Engineering.
Qualifications:
  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent.
  • CAD modeling experience required (CREO experience an asset).
  • Ability to read and produce technical documents.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and engineering design processes.
  • Working knowledge and experience in sheet metal component design, assembly and production.
  • Working knowledge of basic HVAC including general mechanical operations, components and systems.
  • Familiar with the production and process of building HVAC equipment, experience with Air Handling Units preferred.
  • Programming and automation experience an asset.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC related codes, standards and certification requirements.
  • Ability to apply theoretical concepts toward practical results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing workloads.
  • Team Player with a focus on quality.
  • Self-motivated with plenty of ambition and drive.
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
