Position: InPulse DBA - MySQL
Description: The InPulse DBA - MySQL will join the Service Delivery Management Team with the Technology group and will be responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. We are looking to fill a need to have a highly competent and highly motivated individual in this role.
This is a production DBA role; as such it will require a commitment on your part as well as ours. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include database performance analysis, corrective action, proactive tuning, maintenance, administration and backup and recovery across the entire database application infrastructure, as well as responding to database related alerts and escalations. You will work with the team to come up with effective solutions to recurring problems.
This DBA role requires a service oriented mentality including:
· A high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned,
· A focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with service level expectations,
· Establishing and maintaining communication with internal/external customers to keep them updated with status of their requests,
· Initiating and performing changes on production systems and
· Proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
Responsibilities:
· Participate in the design and documentation of database architecture and data modeling from the Operations perspective
· Participate in the design of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform
· Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions
· Set up data sharing and disk partitioning
· Develop database utilities and automated reporting
· Create shell scripts for task automation
· Create, test and execute data management languages
· Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
· Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
· Monitor systems and platforms for availability.
· Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
· Restore and recover corrupted databases
· Participate in the installation and testing of upgrades and patches
· Implement security and encryption
· Provide 24/7 support for critical situations
· Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
Required Skills/Education:
· Technical University bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
· 5-years direct work experience in a similar capacity
· Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options
· Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
· Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
· ITIL Knowledge
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· enterprise level operations/production environment experience, database performance analysis, corrective action, proactive tuning, maintenance, back-up and recovery.
· MySQL, Linux, ITIL, operational automation using scripts.
