The role We are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Accountant who will be responsible for assisting leading the company’s Financial Department. You will be conducting internal audits and data analysis reports, have an eye for detail, a strong technical background to ensure that the company’s financial objectives are being met. You will be preparing and maintaining financial information and work alongside senior management team to assist with continued growth, have the opportunity for professional advancement.

What you will focus on:

You will be assisting the Controller with month end close, financial statement preparation, financial analysis, review and provide back up for payroll, G/L and sub- ledger reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Full cycle accounting including financial statement preparation, financial reporting and entries onto the GL, schedules and audit working papers for year-end financials
• Manage the day-to-day activities
• Prepare payroll journal entries, oversee payroll activities, and maintain payroll systems
• Lead and mentor junior accountants and administrators as required
• Prepare month end reconciliation process
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and troubleshoot as appropriate
• Manage coordinated debt requirements
• Independently prepare ad-hoc reports from various sources of data and identify efficient and viable methods to perform data analysis to support Finance decisions
• Give presentations in department meetings monthly
• With the HR department, coordinate payroll and related remittances
• Prepare inter-company invoicing
• Prepare bank reconciliations
• Assist in government filing and compliance for programs such as HST, EHT and WSIB

Experience and Skills Required

• Strong Knowledge of GAAP
• Working knowledge of full cycle payroll practice and T4 preparation
• Proficiency in MS Excel, word and Outlook; working Knowledge of Simply Accounting
• Accuracy and attention to detail is required, analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent technical accounting, bookkeeping and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated, organized and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Understanding of financing industry/terms
• Understanding of aviation industry

Job Qualification

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a full cycle accounting experience in a similar role in a midsize or larger company
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
• Professional Canadian Accounting designation required (CGA, CMA, CPA)
• Working knowledge of Corridor system or equivalent

Preferred experience in aviation industry
